Sports Grants Available to Telford Clubs

A local recycling company is offering a sports grant to clubs within the borough of Telford and Wrekin.

Veolia, the recycling contractors for Telford and Wrekin Council have announced they will be accepting applications to their sports grants as from 1st November. A total of £2,500 is available and each group can apply for up to £500.

The sports grant is open to any sports club within Telford and Wrekin. Sarah Maythorne, Community Liaison Officer at Veolia said “After the success of our first Sports Grant earlier this year, we are thrilled to announce its return. £500 can make a real difference to a club, our grant to the Rugby Raiders Club helped to triple attendance over the summer holidays.

One of the grant beneficiaries, Cliff Hallam of the Shropshire Wildlife Trust spoke of the difference the funds have made to his organisation.

Cliff Hallam said “I’m delighted that Veolia has chosen to support Telford’s Green Gym through an EnviroGrant. Green Gym has helped thousands of people find a route back to feeling healthier and happier, whilst improving community green spaces around Telford at the same time. This grant will help us promote the Green Gym to new volunteers, so that they can get stuck in and feel the benefits too.”
