Furrows Back Hospital at Home Project

Children who need ongoing medical treatment after being discharged from hospital in Telford are receiving support in their own homes, thanks to a local business.

Furrows of Telford has just supplied the latest vehicle to the team from the children’s ward at The Princess Royal Hospital who deliver the Hospital at Home care initiative.

It’s the 15th year the dealership on Haybridge Road has backed the project, and the support means children can receive check-ups and minor treatment at home rather than going back

into hospital. Furrows Group New Car Sales Manager, Antony Frost, said: “We’re very proud to be associated with the Hospital at Home scheme, and colleagues from the hospital have told us it makes a huge difference to the lives of their young patients. “It means that if a child has ongoing treatment needs, they can receive support at home rather than facing the daunting prospect of returning to the hospital time and time again. “This project hopefully helps to make things just that little bit less stressful for children – and their parents – at a time when they have enough to worry about without the upheaval of repetitive hospital appointments.”

The Kia Picanto car was presented to Carol Drake from the Hospital at Home team at the Telford dealership, and will be put to good use straight away. “We’re extremely grateful to Furrows for their ongoing support for this initiative as it really does help make things a little easier for our young patients. “It’s great to see a local business backing an initiative that has a direct impact on the lives of children in the area, and for Furrows to still be on board after 15 years is testimony to their commitment and dedication to local people.”
