Lake sought by local swimmers

A local swimming group are looking to find a suitable venue in Telford for regular swims in 2020. A community project to benefit the town, Telford Open Water Swimming (TOWS) aims to be like parkrun but offering free weekly swimming outdoors.

Godfrey Clayon explains "We are currently looking for the ideal location and permission to set it up. Initially looking at Saturday mornings starting 7.30am until 9am. Hoping to start spring 2020 once everything is in place."

You would be forgiven for thinking this is for the one week window in June when the temperature is finally high enough that we can confidently put the de-icer & scraper back in the shed. You're wrong.

"It could be year round but initially starting when it warms up next year. We just need a suitable safe lake or similar with decent access hopefully parking close by. I'd happily start earlier but think it'll take time to get permission." says Godfrey.
