Police see red after stopping disqualified driver.
Police pulled over a BMW in Stirchley to find not only was the driver disqualified and testing positive for cocaine, but that the fuel tank contained red diesel.
Red diesel has no tax and therefore much cheaper than diesel for use on the road. It is dyed red to distinguish it from tax paid fuel.
It's perfectly acceptable to use red diesel on boats, fork lifts and farm vehicles as long as they are not used on the roads.
Police use a small syphon to check fuel at the roadside.
