Bowring Park Cafe launch free lunch club

In an outstanding example of community spirit, Bowring Park Cafe in Wellington are offering free lunches in memory of the proprietors parents who passed away in the last 12 months.

David & Donna took to Facebook to announce the move that offers a free lunch from the May & John Lunch Club menu to any child under 13, accompanied by a parent.

"David and I really understand that parents may struggle over the coming weeks with schools closed and children at home and possibly struggling to put food on the table.

During the school closure period due to The Coronavirus we are offering a free lunch for all children under 13 years of age, 11.30 am -2pm Monday – Friday. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

My parents always fed anyone who came into their home, whether you were hungry or not. Many of our customers are aware that my Mum passed away in March 2019 and Dad passed away January this year.

In honour of them I am calling this the "May & John". lunch club and every child is welcome. All you need to do is pick an item off the "May & John Menu and it's on us, together with a glass of cordial."

Items on the menu include:
Our farmhouse hot dog in a brioche roll.
Cheese or Ham Sandwich
Sausage & Beans

The May & John Lunch Club starts on Monday 23rd
