Dawley man to row the English Channel for NHS Charity

Telford fundraiser Andy Neat is planning to row the English Channel – in his back garden.

From his fundraiser "Hi! I’m Andy, and I want to raise as much money as possible for the NHS Together Charity as apart of the COVID-19 campaign.

Needless to say that we are all going through a unique time in our lives. We have had to change the way we live and socialise to protect others and ourselves from this deadly virus. But at the front line of our defence is our truly superb NHS who are putting their lives at risk for us daily, so this charity is a fitting one to support.

Inspired by the other such efforts as marathon running and cycling in back gardens whilst being self isolated at home, I’m going to row the length of the English Channel (21mi/34km) in one day! This will be done on a Concept2 rowing machine in my garden in Telford, Shropshire.

Donations will be granted to 140 NHS charities supporting frontline NHS staff and volunteers caring for COVID-19 patients inthe following ways:

Funding well-being packs/gifts for NHS staff and volunteers on wards/departments

(this could include food deliveries, high energy/protein bars/drinks, snacks, refreshments, wash kits, overnight stay kits.)

Cost of travel, parking, accommodation for NHS staff and volunteers expenses.

Other items as requested by members that enhance the well-being of NHS staff and volunteers caring for COVID-19 patients"
