Armed Forces Day flag is raised
Telford & Wrekin Council has raised its Armed Forces flag to show its support ahead of national Armed Forces Day 2022. The flag will be raised for two weeks until Friday 1 July.
As a part of Telford and Wrekin’s wider Armed Forces Day celebrations, the council’s annual free family event is planned for Saturday 25 June on Broadoaks Playing Field, Donnington from 10.30am – 4pm.
The event is a great opportunity to have a fun day out with the family and enjoy all the free entertainment and activities while celebrating the work of Telford and Wrekin’s Armed Forces community.
The council supports its local Armed Forces community all year including serving personnel, their families and veterans by offering a range of support around housing, education, finance, jobs and also year round leisure discounts. More details can be found at www.telford.gov.uk/armedforcessupport

“The council is proud to be able to support our local armed forces units in a number of different ways from offering leisure discounts to providing welfare and financial support.
“Our Armed Forces Day event is set to be another fantastic event; bringing communities from across the borough together to show our respects the servicemen, women and also their families who are committed to protecting our country.
Captain Nick Trevor from, D Squadron, The Royal Yeomanry in Dawley Bank said:
“It is an honour and a privilege for members of D Squadron, The Royal Yeomanry to support the Telford and Wrekin community in raising the Armed Forces Flag; in recognition both today and every day all those who serve in uniform and all those who have served in the past in their commitment to our nation.”
