Teachers Strike hits Telford Schools
Many senior school teachers in Telford are on strike this week as part of a national dispute over pay.
Schools such as Charlton in Wellington and Telford Priory School in Wrockwardine Wood have written to parents to inform that the schools will be closed or partially closed on Wednesday 1st February.
Andrew McNaugton, Principal of the Charlton School stated in a letter to parents “I’m sorry that some families will have to make alternative arrangements for children at short notice, and for the disruption to their education. We have attempted to minimise this as far as possible, following DfE guidance. I understand that this situation may be frustrating, and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect.”
NEU Members have been offered 5% but are asking for a 12% (or 9% if the government fund it) increase.
