Trains to go a bit further from today
West Midlands Railway have started to send the trains as far as Telford Central, starting today.
Previously, the trains stopped at Shifnal before returning to Wolverhampton, but an agreement on a safe method of working means that the trains can now get as far as Telford Central.
A spokesperson for WMR said “We’re really sorry to all affected customers for the inconvenience and disruption this incident is causing. The following video shows the extent of the damage caused by the landslip, which Network Rail is working to repair as quickly as possible.”
Network Rail is in charge of the repair work, which involves fixing a landslip of 5,000 tonnes of material along a 50-metre stretch of railway. Engineers have advised the railway will remain closed until at least Thursday 28 March, and hopefully reopen by Easter.
