Next Family Hubs to open in Hadley and Dawley
Telford & Wrekin Council will open two more Family Hubs in Hadley and Dawley this summer to offer local families even more ways to get help and support as they navigate their way through parenting.
Hazel Family Hub will be located on Waterloo Road in Hadley and will open its doors for the first time at a launch event during the summer holidays on Tuesday 13 August between 2pm and 4pm.
Evergreen Family Hub which will be located at 35 High Street Dawley will host its opening day on Friday 6 September between 10am and 2pm.
The events above will be an opportunity for families to go along and find out more about the hubs and also the Start for Life offer in the borough.
There will be plenty of family friendly activities to join in with including a photo booth, face painting and the chance to win some prizes for local family venues.
Family Hubs offer a single location for families to visit to get information, guidance, and support on a range of services, including infant feeding, mental health, healthy lifestyles and parenting classes.
Councillor Shirley Reynolds (Lab) cabinet member for Early Years, Children and Young People, Education, Employment & Skills said: “Supporting our families through our local Family Hubs is essential for the wellbeing and development of our community. By the end of summer we will have opened the doors at 6 different Family Hub locations which will all offer a central location for families to get access to the critical services and resources which they need. Next time you have a question or would like to access support for your family, I urge you to visit one of our Family Hubs which are already open and speak to a member of the team in person.”
This work is part of Telford & Wrekin Council’s ‘20 pledges in 20 weeks’ campaign which will see the local authority deliver 20 actions on the things that matter most to local people during the first 20 weeks following Cllr Lee Carter’s appointment as Leader on 18 July. The pledges reinforce the council’s ongoing commitment to protect, care and invest to create a better borough.
Each of the Family Hubs in Telford & Wrekin have been named after trees – as a symbol of stability, growth and strength, in light also of our borough’s “Tree City of the World” achievement. Residents were invited to vote on their favourite centre names last year.
Family Hubs are open Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm.
In addition to the physical Family hub, information and support is also available on the council’s website at www.telford.gov.uk/familyhubs
