Dawley dog attack man airlifted
West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to an incident at an address in New Street off Springfield Road in Dawley at 8.25am this morning.
An ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a 64 year old man with multiple serious injuries. He received treatment at the scene before being airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
A witness told Telford Live! “…an air ambulance landed on the Portley Road park field. We heard the man who was attacked by the dogs screaming for help, and the lady begging them not to take her dogs.
The mans injuries are thought to be life changing not life threatening. Two dogs, one of which is believed to be an XL bully, have been seized.
Inspector Dan Rutherford of West Mercia Police said “Our thoughts are with the injured man.
This is an isolated and contained incident and there is not believed to be any wider threat to the public. We will be carrying out an investigation into this dog attack.”
