Telford couple bid for Garden of the Year

Jo, a nurse at the from Telford and Andi entered their garden for Garden of Year award in the Gardens World Magazine and have reached the public vote stage to find the winner.

Grooms Cottage garden, says Jo, is a result of Andis hard work. The magazine says of the garden “Jo and Andi’s garden in Telford, Shropshire, is a lushly planted tapestry of creatively designed rooms, largely inspired by their travels in Asia, using upcycled materials, and working around several mature trees. It includes multiple, innovatively lit seating areas, a greenhouse and an extensive collection of roses and hostas.”

You can visit the garden during the open garden events in the summer.

Jo told Telford Live! “We open for charity in June and July for the National Garden Scheme, with all proceeds from entry going to nursing related charities and proceeds from cakes going to Shrewsbury and Newport canal to support the restoration of Wappenshall Wharf.

“Also if we win the peoples choice we are donation the prize to the NSG to raise additional funds.”
