Bus horror in Lightmoor

A bus ploughed into a bus stop full of people at Lightmoor Way in Telford this morning. The Arriva 8A bus careered into the waiting passengers, where a woman sustained potentially serious injuries.

The bus appeared to come from the opposite side of the road, mounting the kerb by the bus stop, where it hit the pedestrians before coming to a halt.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent one ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car to the scene. Shropshire Fire and Rescue sent two fire appliances which were mobilised from Much Wenlock and Telford Central to make the vehicle safe.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Upon arrival crews found a woman who was the pedestrian.

“She was assessed by ambulance staff and had sustained potentially serious injuries. She received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene.

“She was conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital under emergency blue light conditions with medics travelling on board for continued care en-route.”

“No persons from the bus required treatment.”
