Pampering sessions raise cash for charity
Hair and beauty students from Telford College have been raising cash for charity this month by running pre-Christmas pampering sessions for the local community.
The college’s on-site hair and beauty training salon has opened its doors to offer washes, blow-dries, manicures and mini facials in return for a minimum cash donation of £5.
All the money raised from the event, at The Retreat on the college’s Wellington campus, is being donated to Severn Hospice.
The treatments have been carried out by the college’s hair and beauty students, under supervision from expert staff.
Jodie Allen, the college’s hair, beauty and catering learner manager said: “It was a chance for people to pamper themselves in the run-up to Christmas, while raising money for a brilliant local cause at the same time.
“We chose Severn Hospice because it has helped and supported a number of staff and students’ families, and this was a chance to give something back and show our gratitude.
“We will be continuing to raise cash for Severn Hospice in the new year by organising more events, including a cake bake sale and another series of pamper sessions.”
Severn Hospice gives specialist care and support free of charge to families across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales who are living with an incurable illness. It has bases in Telford and Shrewsbury, which are funded through a combination of donations from local people, fundraising activities, the Severn Hospice lottery, plus retail departments, gifts in people’s wills and grants from the NHS.
