Roll up, roll up . . . SMI supports the ‘circus with a purpose’ once again

Children with additional needs from across the Telford area will get the chance to experience all the fun of the circus thanks to support from a local business.

Circus Starr – described as ‘the circus with a purpose’ – is once again touring the UK, sending free tickets to children and their families through the support of local businesses.

It brings very best in circus talent from around the world to lay on a show for children with disabilities, families on low incomes, or those facing challenges such as domestic violence, bereavement or living with a life-limiting condition.

The team at Seymour Manufacturing International in Telford have once again pledged their financial support in the run-up to the Telford leg of the tour on Tuesday, January 21, at Ford Hall at Lilleshall Sports and Conference Centre near Newport.

Circus Starr fundraising director Michelle Crossley said: “Throughout the UK there are children who feel isolated. They may feel this way because they have a disability, additional learning needs, or their family are disadvantaged. Some may might not even have a family of their own.

“Circus Starr are passionate about giving vulnerable children the chance to come together, experience our magical art form, and have some well-deserved fun at our circus inspired show.

“We wouldn’t be able to continue our valuable work without the kind support of community-driven businesses.”

SMI managing director Jill Seymour said this was the third year the Stafford Park-based company had decided to support the tour.

“As a company we’re committed to supporting the local community wherever we can, and it’s a joy to be able to work with Circus Starr to deliver such a wonderful event for local families and to spread some much-needed cheer.

“This inclusive, exciting non-judgemental fun, accessible and magical experience is a fantastic opportunity for families who may otherwise be struggling to capture the spirit of the festive season, and we’re proud to be associated with this incredible ground-breaking tour.”
