Former place of worship in Telford set to be sold for redevelopment

Bond Wolfe has been instructed to sell a former place of worship in Bank Road, Dawley, in Telford, which has the potential for redevelopment.

First erected by the Primitive Methodists in 1841, by 1852 it had free seating for 260 people and rented seating for 120.

The building continued as a Methodist chapel until 1960 when it closed. Between 1963 & 1980 the building was used by a Spiritualist church, and by 2004 was being used by the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The freehold, two storey building is being sold empty with accommodation including offices, meeting rooms and ancillary areas over about 3,000 sq ft, and has a large car park to the rear.

James Mattin, managing director agency at Bond Wolfe in Birmingham, said: “We are delighted to be offering this rare opportunity for sale in Telford.

“The property comprises a former place of worship and is considered ideal for a variety of uses. Its close proximity to the local road networks, combined with a large car peak to the rear, make it an appealing opportunity to a wide mix of would-be buyers.”

The site extends to 0.31 acre and currently has Class F1 planning permission for buildings such as places of worship, but could be repurposed in a number of ways, subject to planning permission.

A significant benefit to the site is the separate access and rear car park. At the end of Bank Road, a gated private driveway leads around to the back of the property where a large park is situated , providing ample parking and rear access to the property.

The property is located towards the end of Bank Road, in the district of Dawley. Bank Road can be easily accessed from Concorde which leads directly off the Dawley Bank Roundabout.

Bond Wolfe is seeking £450,000 for the freehold and further details can be found here: https://www.bondwolfe.com/agency/properties/meeting-hall-bank-road-dawley-telford-shropshire-tf4-2az/
