School celebrates official opening
A Telford and Wrekin borough school has celebrated the completion of its recent multi-million-pound expansion with an official opening this week.
With investment from Telford & Wrekin Council, work to expand Lawley Village Academy and provide an extra 210 school places, completed in last year’s autumn term.
This has allowed the school, which is part of the REAch2 Academy Trust, to go from a one form entry to two form entry to help meet the demands of the growing population within its catchment area.
To celebrate the completion of the project, guests were invited to enjoy a tour of the newly expanded school, which includes six new classrooms, a SEN support room, nurture space and a nursery class.
Claire Freestone, Headteacher at Lawley Village Academy, said: “This expansion has been transformative for our school community. The additional space and modern facilities mean we can offer an even better learning environment for our pupils, ensuring they have the best possible start to their education. We’re excited to welcome even more families into our school community.”
Pupils and staff were also invited to a special assembly and a ribbon was cut to mark the occasion.
