Wheelie Bins dropped on A442 from bridge
Officers have released CCTV images after a wheelie bin was dropped from a bridge in Telford, which struck a vehicle.
The incident happened on Monday (27 January) at around 1.50am at the Wombridge footbridge over the A442 as the car travelled on the northbound carriageway.
The wheelie bin struck the vehicle, which caused extensive damage to the windscreen, and resulted in two people requiring hospital treatment.
A second incident, believed to be linked, happened at around 1am this morning (Friday 31 January) when a wheelie bin was dropped off the same bridge striking a HGV. The driver of the HGV was unhurt.
Officers believe the people in the CCTV images may have been in the area at the time of incident on Monday and may have information that can help with their enquiries.
Detective Inspector Paul Drury said: “This sort of behaviour is reckless, and not only can it cause serious damage to vehicles, but even more worryingly, it can result in serious injury to those travelling in the vehicle and potentially cause a devastating collision. Fortunately, on these two occasions no one sustained any serious or life-threatening injuries.
“We believe these two incidents are linked and are appealing to the public for their help in identifying the two people in the CCTV images, as we believe they have vital information that can help with our enquiries.”
Anyone who recognises the people in the images is asked to contact dl-gcid@westmercia.police.uk quoting incident number 23i of January 27, 2024.
