Hockerhill celebrating its first year of success by offering £1 entry

To celebrate its 1st anniversary and a successful year entertaining families, Hockerhill Adventure Playbarn is offering £1 entry to all guests on Tuesday 11th March.

The popular family attraction in Brewood, Staffordshire, will put everyone in the party spirit as it’s adorned with decorations including balloons and birthday banners. Face painting will take place from 1pm – 3pm and the café staff will be handing out specially-made birthday cupcakes and biscuits.

Hockerhill Adventure Playbarn, which is owned and managed by the Chillington Hall and Estate, opened in March 2024 and is designed by Creating Adventurous Places (CAP.Co), the turnkey attractions specialists and award-winning play creators.

Taking inspiration from the Estate’s rich history, the attraction was a long-held ambition of Charlie and Tessa Giffard and inspired by their own young family’s need for adventure, entertainment and fun.

Tessa Giffard, owner of Hockerhill and custodian of Chillington Hall and Estate, said of its 1st anniversary: “We couldn’t have predicted the wonderful reaction we’ve had from families coming to Hockerhill over the last year and every week we receive complimentary messages and reviews from guests who have thoroughly enjoyed their experience. There’s no better feeling than knowing you’ve provided families with everything you set out to when designing this space.”

The centrepiece at Hockerhill is a giant mock oak tree modelled on the one that King Charles II hid in at Boscobel House as he fled Oliver Cromwell at the Battle of Worcester. Right at the heart of the playbarn, this central turret allows children to explore the many bridges, high-level walkways, tunnels, slides and rope equipment that awaits them.

For added excitement, the Hockerhill pedal go-kart track starts indoors before heading outside on a winding tarmac track where thrill seekers can channel their inner Formula 1 driver and set their best lap time.

“Our mission from the start has been to provide families with the ultimate destination in the West Midlands that entertains and challenges children, sparks their imagination and creates lifelong memories. Everybody’s efforts, including our wonderful staff who come from the local area, are so valued and we can’t wait to see what the next year has in store for Hockerhill,” added Charlie Giffard.

Once little ones have conquered the indoor elements, a spacious outdoor area awaits them which includes multiple zip lines, swings, slides, sand pit and a bespoke toddler area for the smallest explorers. Outdoor seating and picnic benches are found on the patio, along with an outdoor kiosk serving delicious ice cream from Cheshire Ice Cream Farm.

Hockerhill’s café fuels families for their big day out, serving breakfast and lunch with locally sourced ingredients. For breakfast, families can choose from Tessa’s Homemade Granola, shakshuka or a full English, with a tasty poke bowl or Halloumi salad, stone-baked pizzas, or Chillington beef burger for lunch. The ‘Little Acorns’ menu for children offers mini breakfasts as well as hearty mains to fuel them for their big day out.
