It’s that time of year again…

Twice a year we get to poke a bit of fun at our friends over the water in Broseley, as the clocks change.

I’m counting down the years until being from Broseley is declared a protected characteristic and you’ll have to make up this post in your head. Until them, I’m going all in.

Yes, you need to put your clocks forward by an hour this evening. It’s a straightforward task, many electronic clocks and devices can do this without human intervention.

In Broseley, it’s a little more tricky. Ever since the Springtime fiasco of 2006 when a well meaning local put a case of Red Bull in the water for the donkey who powers the town clock. The town was catapulted into 2056 like a red-neck Back to the Future.

2056 Broseley is much like a 2006 Telford, but with a River Severn now a solid brown mass, they can cross to civilisation any time they like.

Luckily, a lightning strike jolted the town back into the dark ages, and in an effort to prevent future disasters, the council set up a helpline for residents who had upgraded to digital clocks. Sadly, the lack of phones meant that no-one could call it.

You’ll be pleased to know the donkey made a full recovery.
