Road closure in place to allow bridge repairs

Road closure in place to allow bridge repairs

An emergency road closure will remain in place on the B5062 High Ercall to Roden road at Ercall Mill Bridge for the rest of this week, after flooding resulted in a retaining wall collapsing.

Telford & Wrekin Council is working with its highways contractor Balfour Beatty to carry out and complete the works while the closure remains in place.

When this is completed, the closure will be removed and traffic lights reinstalled as an interim measure while the structure is monitored.

The council is currently working on a long term design solution which will include reconstruction of both retaining walls and an upgrade of the existing vehicle restraint system.

This is likely to take place early next year and again will mean a full road closure.
