Power towers final hours
Power towers final hours
At 11am tomorrow, the cooling towers of Ironbridge Power Station will be but nuggets of cinder block and ash as the explosive charges undo the work of the builders just 60 years ago.
Do not mourn their loss, the trees and hillside since hidden by their mass will once again see the river meander by.
They were built at the time of the Beatles, not the Pharaohs, and if the authorities tried to build a Power Station on the banks of the River Severn in a World Heritage Site, then you would be marching against it.
Enjoy the day, a new dawn on Saturday as the suns light falls on new ground.
Anyway, traffic will be a bastard, so expect delays.
