Council’s winning Christmas card designs chosen
The winning designs for Telford & Wrekin Council’s Christmas card competition have been announced.
Each year, pupils from local primary schools are invited to create Christmas card designs, with two being picked to become the official Christmas cards for the council. The theme of this year’s competition was ‘what makes you happy about Christmas’.
The competition is divided into two age categories; one for children aged 5 to 7 (Foundation and Years 1 and 2) and the other for 8 to 11 year olds (Years 3 to 6).
Leader of the council, Councillor Shaun Davies and Mayor of the Borough of Telford & Wrekin, Councillor Amrik Jhawar chose a winning design each, which have now been printed on the council’s official Christmas cards, as well as being used on the e-card versions too.
This year’s winning designs were ‘Christmas Reindeer Run’ drawn by Bren Staszok aged 5 ½,from Hadley Learning Centre, and ’Santa Eating a Cookie’ by Jacob Addison aged8, from St Peter’s School in Bratton. Bren and Jacob will each receive a family pass for Telford Ice Rink.
Councillor Shaun Davies, leader of Telford & Wrekin Council, said:
“It is my absolute pleasure to hold the annual Christmas card competition for local schools. We get so many wonderful, creative submissions that the job of choosing the winners is never easy but I am pleased we’ve each picked out our favourite design to send on behalf of the council this Christmas.”
Councillor Amrik Jhawar, Mayor of the Borough of Telford & Wrekin, added:
“There were so many great entries this year that choosing the winners was particularly tough. However, we have chosen our two favourites and the winners, Bren and Jacob, can be proud that their designs will represent the borough this Christmas.”
