Following a sadly fatal accident and very serious injury to a toddler on the newly opened A518 between Muxton & Newport, police are appealing for any help you can give.

Officers are appealing for witnesses after a woman sadly died following a collision near Newport.

The collision happened on Saturday 12 February at about 6.20pm on the A518 New Trench Road, and involved a blue Mini and a grey Fiat 500X.

Sadly the driver of the mini, a woman in her 40s was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the Fiat were all taken to hospital; two adults with serious injuries and a 19-month-old who is in a critical condition.

Police would also like to thank members of the public who assisted with first aid at the scene until the emergency services arrived.

Officers are asking anyone who was travelling on the A518 New Trench Road at the time who witnessed the incident or has dash-cam footage to get in touch.
