Six acts from Telford competed in the final of the T-Live Bandslam on Friday, June 20 at Oakengates Theatre at The Place.
The Kooz won through on the night along with Melissa Severn to have the chance to perform on the same stage as Union J and Lawson at the T-Live festival on Saturday, August 30.
The high standard of the bands on the night was a testament to the vibrancy of the live music scene in Shropshire but The Kooz shone through as the whole audience took to the dance floor for their mix of blues, rock n roll and hip-hop.
The Kooz are a 2 piece band with Joshua Sole on guitar and vocals and Jason Latham on drums. Although they are short on personnel their sound is akin to a full band and they seem to have the energy to match.
“We owe this result to all the people who came out to support all of the bands. It was great to see our core support along with the enthusiasm of the people seeing us for the first time. The fact that we now get to play at T-Live in August is a huge thing for us and will allow us to reach more people with our music.” Said Joshua Sole.
The kooz drummer Jason Latham gave thanks to the threatre staff and T-Live for the opportunity to play at such a large event. “We enjoyed the BandSlam finals and watching everyone dancing to our music. Bring on T-Live.. a larger stage and the biggest audience we have played to date. Each gig we play brings more fans as people discover our enthusiasm and feel-good music.”
The Kooz & Melissa Severn will be performing along side Union J and Lawson at the T-Live event in Telford Town Park on 30th August. Tickets available online or from Oakengates Theatre ticket office.
