What are these cameras for?

These cameras were spotted at Stirchley Interchange, a popular spot for mobile speed camera vans as they overlook the A442 Queensway.

This time, they are not for catching speeding motorists, but for monitoring traffic patterns to help planners with improvements to infrastructure.

AI cameras are being introduced to the UK to detect and photograph drivers using mobile phones at the wheel, a criminal offence, but these are very different to the ones here at Stirchley.
