Care home staff complete memory walk in aid of Alzheimer’s Society

Roden Hall Care Home proudly hosted a successful Memory Walk in aid of The Alzheimer’s Society, raising over £500 for the vital cause. Organised by Mia, their dedicated Lifestyle Assistant, this 10.8-mile walk holds special significance to the residents, staff, and families at Roden Hall, many of whom have been directly touched by Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

The Memory Walk team, a group with a personal connection to the cause, included Mia, Lifestyle Coordinator Karen, Mia’s dad, Steve, her partner, Jay, and Les and Martin, the son-in-law and grandson of resident Peter. Together, they took on the challenging journey from The Wrekin to Roden Hall, passing through the beautiful Telford countryside.

To keep spirits high, the group enjoyed a refreshing stop at The Woolpack in Shawbirch and homemade cookies and brownies during the walk, which provided a much-needed energy boost. Upon their return to Roden Hall, the residents warmly greeted the walkers for a well-deserved afternoon tea, a fitting end to a day filled with camaraderie and purpose.

Mia, who was the driving force behind the event, said,

“It was an incredibly meaningful day. It was truly special to walk in support of such a vital cause, surrounded by the love and support of our Roden Hall family. I’m so proud of the team and grateful to everyone who donated.”

The funds raised will go directly to the Alzheimer’s Society, which will use them to further its work supporting those affected by dementia.
