Teenage girl snatched by Quetico Monster!

Relax, no one has been snatched, but this super article was written by Noel Kratofil in year 6 at the Captain Webb Primary School in Dawley. Noel and his colleagues have written newspaper articles based on the events that unfolded in the animated short film “Francis” (Link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9xX6lQ_gdY) about the mysterious disappearance of the character in Quetico.

Teacher, Megan Saville told Telford Live “We have been really trying to engage our children in writing and would love to have a real-life purpose for the children to work towards.

“The children were tasked to write a newspaper report on her fictional disappearance and Noel did a brilliant job!!”

We were delighted to be able to share this to a wider audience.

Something horrifying happened to a girl in Quetico Park yesterday, which has taken the news articles by storm!

Horrifying details are told in this article and tragedy is shown – please be warned that this article is not for those with a weak disposition. Francis Branduine (17) has concerningly been declared missing yesterday while camping in Quetico Park on the boarder of Minnesota and Canada.

Her parents are extremely worried, stating that she would never go wandering off on her own on purpose. “We never expected this to happen to us in Quetico,” stated the mother of the missing girl.

The family were on a family trip to see the Aurora Borealis, intertwined with hikes of the distant mountains, flats, caves and lowlands. Francis and her parents went off track to set up camp near the lake, which had been formed during the ice age. It was 3 miles off the popular, smooth trail. Her parents are nature lovers and enjoy going to Quetico. Francis’ dad used to work at Quetico; he quit after spotting suspicious activity in the area in the form of many small fires. Quetico is an eco-system of wildlife, mountain, algae and many more.

It is believed ancient tribes used to live in Quetico; however, The Battle of Quetico drove them off to Canada. Apparently, before they moved over the boarder, they cursed Quetico with many mythical, exotic beasts.

A grainy photograph of Francis has been given to police and released to the public, along with a image of the lake where Francis was last seen.

We have interviewed a local fisherman (Richie Pane, aged 56), who was fishing at the shore of the mysterious, sparkling lake on the day of the disappearance. “Was there anything unusual about the lake yesterday?” questioned our correspondent. “Yes, well, it was extremely strange,” replied the fisherman who—throughout the interview—had a concerned look, which worried police, “there was a boat about half a mile away with someone on board. I believe they were wearing a black beanie. A while later, the boat drifted up to shore with no one on board. The only thing in the boat was a notebook.”

Our correspondent asked what was inside of the notebook. “There were beautiful drawings of sunsets, sunrises, camping adventures and spotting the Aurora Borealis; however, the drawings were becoming scribbles then they became rushed drawings. But the end… I can’t believe it.”

At this point, the fisherman wailed and the colour in his cheeks leaked from his face. “There was writing with `I did knock first hand-written in blood. Not pen, pencil or colours…”

Due to the notebook coming to the shore, many forensic professionals have come to Quetico in the past hours and there is currently heavy police presence around the lake.

The boat has been searched for fingerprints, in case they might be able to find a trace of where Francis has gone, which has been mostly ineffective. A team of 3 divers have gone into the lake and many statements have been released from the team such as them saying that the lake is the least visible they have seen in their career.

The only things they have so far found are the flag of the 7th Minnesota musketeer regiment (an incredible remark to history but not relevant) a black beanie, a sharpie, a pencil case (embroidered with Francis’ name), a propane tank and a pair of gloves.

Most of these items look like they are owned by Francis and could help to produce a theory of this mysterious disappearance. Police worry that there was an overall lack of usable evidence to keep this a case and could become a cold case for months upon years. Police searched the surrounding area however, there were no footprint or anything.

Police are going to use sonar to scan the lake down to the bottom just to make sure that she hasn’t drowned in the hypothermic ensuing water. In case there isn’t anything, there are going to be masses of volunteers searching Quetico (day in and day out) until the missing girl is found or the case is put to rest.

Unless you are permitted to go due to you volunteering, PLEASE do not go to Quetico Park as it is having a long term closure at this time due to the incident.

If you find Francis Branduine, or have any information regarding her disappearance, please call 911 or 0934 665712. According to police, the site is currently not safe to visit, and the public have been advised to stay away until further notice.
