Wellington Literary Festival 2015
October sees Wellington play host to over 30 official events, and at least one unofficial one, during the town’s 19th Literary Festival. Events range from workshops to history talks, famous authors and films across subjects as diverse as football, politics, exploration and Boudicca. All the official events are free of charge, although you might need a ticket for the most popular ones as there is a limit on numbers at the venue. There really is something for everyone, but here’s our pick of the crop.
Oct 10th 12noon to 6pm Kurly McGeachie
Birmingham poet laureate finalist, Kurly, also known as Alan, will be running a workshop for children and teens to try out rap and poetry as well as enjoy a few of his own creations.
October 5 @ 7:30 pm – October 6 @ 9:30 pm Paul Costello
The self-proclaimed Basil Fawlty of Shropshire he will be Reading from a selection of articles from Utterly Undiscovered, his comic Bed and Breakfast memoir set in deepest Shropshire
October 17 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm Polly Toynbee
For those interested in politics, Polly Toynbee’s talk on her recent book, Cameron’s Coup: How the Tories took Britain to the Brink, will be an interesting one.
